"Like many people, I have had my struggles with food, weight and fitness, pretty much throughout my life. Since joining Fit2TheCore, that has changed. I still have my moments, but for the first time in my life, I feel in control of my decisions and know that my priority is to make good choices in order to fuel my body. I have come to appreciate the “everything in moderation” mantra and realize that a combination of reasonably healthy eating and regular exercise is a simple formula for feeling my best. Exercise is not a burden it is a part of my life. At Fit, I have found a community of great women who inspire me every day, for many reasons. We live by the motto, “Strong women hold each other up” and it truly is what makes this gym unique."
You can always catch Jean coming to one of our earliest classes most days and fitting in a run afterwards to start her day, and that is one of the qualities that our community admires the most about her!
Q: What is your favorite inspirational quote? A: I have two… “It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.” -Eleanor Roosevelt “It doesn’t get easier, YOU get stronger.” -LD
Q: What are your personal health and fitness goals? A: My personal goal was to find something that could fit my life. I have always enjoyed exercise but didn’t always make it a priority. I want to make healthy, delicious food choices that allow me to have the endurance to exercise so that I feel good.
Q: What ONE thing keeps you the most focused and motivated to continue to work hard to reach your goals? A: How I feel (healthy).
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started with us? A: Three years ago, I had been caring for my elderly mother in her final days. For six months I worked and took care of her and had neither the time nor the energy for anything else. I was exhausted, emotionally drained, overweight and generally in a funk. I Googled nutrition and exercise, looking for something new and found Fit. I made the call and from the moment Lauren called me back, I knew I had found a home. She was so genuine and welcoming. The trainers and staff are dedicated and knowledgeable and of course, I found an amazing group of women who have become a family for me. Camille met with me and soon after, I did my first Challenge, with nice results. I have had good months and not so good months along the way but Camille and her team are always there to support and cheer you on. I don’t know how, but they remember the smallest details about each one of us! You just don’t get that in other gyms.
Q: How as Fit2TheCore/NutritionWorks made a difference in your life? A: I now have the strength, stamina and confidence to keep up with my work and all the little stressors that life throws our way.
Q: What kinds of milestones have you accomplished and what specific results have you achieved so far? A: I have lost weight and pretty much kept if off (which is always the hard part for me!), I have become stronger and more toned and I have started running again.
Q: What is your “word” of the year? A: Well, it’s 2020 so, PERSEVERANCE.
Q: What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change and committing to their goals? A: I would say take the first step. Allow yourself to find what works for you and allow for imperfection. Find a place where you are comfortable, one to where you look forward to going. Fit2theCore is that “happy place” for me.
