IN HER OWN WORDS:

Kate's Transformation

Kate came to NutritionWorks in Sept 2013.  The following is  a compilation of her health & fitness journey.  These pictures display milestones in her journey and you will read Kate's thoughts throughout this process and what kept her on the road to success. She has inspired so many and continues to do so.  Congratulations Kate,  from everyone at   FIT 2 THE CORE/NUTRITIONWORKS.

September 2013:

Who is this girl?

She was definitely tired of being tired. She was a “Picky eater”, not willing to try many new things…especially vegetables. She did NOT get the connection between food eaten and calories burned. She did not measure, or weigh food to see how much more than a serving size she was eating. She did not listen to her body telling her it was full long before she stopped eating. It’s hard to remember all the feelings I had when I was living in that body. I now realize how tired and “heavy” I really felt. My knees both ached from the excess weight.

This girl definitely felt like she embarrassed her nieces and nephews even though they unconditionally showed her love.

She has a strong core family unit that supports her no matter what. She has always felt that she can accomplish ANYTHING she decides she wants to do.

She spent too much time trying to find clothes that were flattering and more and more found nothing looked quite right. She had started to avoid mirrors and sometimes, though she had not eaten anything all day, would go home to peanut butter crackers instead of going in to a restaurant to get take out so she would not have to wonder what the people who waited on her thought about her food order and her physical size.

November 2013:

Who is this girl?

This girl has seen such a change in what she has eaten -including vegetables- that she sees no reason that she will not achieve her goal. This girl drank water more than any other drink. She recorded her food daily, using an online app as a daily food planner. She tried to keep her calories total less than what the website suggested, but at least 1200 calories. She bought a digital pedometer and attempted to hit 10, 000 steps a day. One night she actually walked around in circles to hit the 10, 000 steps a day goal.

Included in the nutrition classes was goal setting. This girl set a goal of trying a new vegetable every week. Brussel Sprouts!!!!! Who knew they were so delicious?!

The weight loss that happened in the first 6 weeks was so shocking-25 pounds- that she was determined to loss another 25 in the next 6 weeks. At first the exercise routine was just walking the track, but soon built up to attending multiple Zumba classes each week as well as using gym equipment and taking strength training classes.

March 2014:

Who is this girl?

This girl has a vision, this girl has a plan, this girl is complimented almost everywhere she goes! This girl does NOT get tired of people telling her she “looks great!”

She is feeling lighter, her knees are SO MUCH better, and she has more mobility and is feeling so much faster in those Zumba and strength training classes.

She continues to eat vegetables and record her food intake as well as exercise-calories burned. She is still working toward losing weight and eating right that she does not sometimes even see how far she has come in only 6 months! Thankfully, she has friends who continue to compliment her daily. They tell her she looks great and they continue to support her healthy eating habits.

June 2014:

Who is this girl?

This girl is looking forward to the summer and the great weather it will bring. She is planning on taking up biking riding and doing more strength training classes as she continues to dance her Zumba classes away five times a week. She is still recorded her food on the website that has helped with food planning. She is still using her pedometer everyday.

She really does finally see the incredible changes she has made and needs to buy all new summer clothes. She’s looking forward to traveling this summer and going on day trips with friends and family. She knows she can control how much of a treat she can enjoy, and actually does not eat when her body is telling her “You’ve had enough”.

One day on a bike ride this girl rode off the path and hopped on a swing set…one of her favorite things to do when she was young. Ahhhhhhh…freedom!!!!!!!

Who is this girl?

Wow, one year has flown by! This girl sometimes wonders WHY she did not begin this journey earlier in her life, but does not dwell on that…It has happened now and you can’t turn back time, but this girl doesn’t need to.

This girl continues her exercise routine; even though school has started and that will change when and how often she can exercise. She is back into a routine of exercising 5-6 times a week at least an hour at a time.

She continues to measure her food, no need to weigh it now after months of looking at the appropriate portion size.

She has tried so many new and different foods that she finds when ordering from a menu she does not want all the fried and sugary stuff, because she knows she feels so much better after eating vegetables.

This girl cannot believe the people who tell her they are inspired by what SHE has done. What a powerful thing to tell someone.

This girl is simply H A P P Y!

This girl is looking forward to feeling healthy, eating great and staying fit-2 the core!
