Secrets to avoid takeout!

Do you find yourself ordering takeout more than you'd like?  Well, you aren't alone.  With the hectic schedule many of us have between work, kids activities, household chores and family commitments many of us are exhausted at the end of the day only to be faced with another chore....preparing and cooking dinner!

It's sooo much easier to pick up takeout!  After all you can justify it as a treat.   YOU deserve it because you are working so hard and juggling so much.  Right? Wrong!!  A couple of takeouts a week  becomes more of a habit than a treat!  Not only is it costly but it is downright UNHEALTHY and will not get you to your health and fitness goals.  So why do some people choose that option while others don't?

These are some strategies our clients use to keep them from getting takeout and eating healthier.
  • Planning.Like the saying goes.."If you don't have a plan you can plan to fail".  Take some time to sit and look at your weekly schedule.  When will you have time for grocery shopping and meal prepping. Which nights are more hectic than others and plan simple easy meals or have leftovers.
  • Schedule it!  I block out time on my weekly schedule for grocery shopping and meal prepping. And I usually dedicate 1 night a week, to trying a new recipe so my family doesn't get bored.
  • Stocking Your Kitchen With Healthy FoodsI I always buy certain staple foods that I can create fast easy meals and snacks so when I am tired it doesn't take much time and effort. Check out this list 20 Foods You should always Have In Your KItchen.
  • Double Up On Recipes!  It takes little to no effort to double a recipe and have leftovers, but it can make all the difference between eating healthy or opting for takeout when you are tired and hungry.
  • Use an Instant Pot!  With this small kitchen appliance you can literally throw all the ingredients in and end up with a perfect meal!
Remember: "You can't control everything in your life but you can control what you put in your mouth!"
